Stroudsburg Islamic Center welcomes Muslim couples and families seeking to begin their marital journey according to Islamic teachings. Marriage, or Nikah, is a sacred commitment built upon faith, love, mercy, mutual respect, and responsibility.
Our goal is to help couples approach this important milestone with Islamic guidance and a clear understanding of the responsibilities of marriage.
Our Nikah Services
Subject to availability and the center’s procedures, our marriage services may include:
Islamic Nikah Ceremony: A marriage ceremony conducted according to Islamic principles by an authorized Imam or qualified officiant.
Pre-Marital Islamic Guidance: Guidance for couples about the rights, responsibilities, and values of marriage in Islam.
Marriage Process Information: Information about the steps and documentation required before arranging a Nikah ceremony.
Family Coordination: Communication with the families, where appropriate and with the couple’s consent.
Marriage Questions: An opportunity to ask questions about Islamic marriage requirements and related religious matters.
Requirements for a Nikah
Requirements will be discussed with the couple before scheduling the ceremony. Depending on the circumstances and the center’s procedures, these may include:
Valid identification for the prospective spouses.
Confirmation that both individuals freely consent to the marriage.
Information about the wali, witnesses, and mahr, as applicable under Islamic guidance.
Discussion of any previous marriage and applicable documentation.
Completion of any required civil marriage procedures.

Islamic Marriage and Civil Requirements
An Islamic Nikah and a civil marriage license serve different purposes. Couples should confirm the applicable Pennsylvania marriage requirements and arrange the necessary civil documentation. Please ask the center whether it can also assist with the civil marriage process.
