Stroudsburg Islamic Center recognizes the pain and difficulty families experience when a loved one passes away. During these difficult moments, Muslim families may need spiritual guidance, information about Islamic funeral practices, and assistance understanding the Janazah process.

Our goal is to help community members seek appropriate Islamic guidance and connect with available funeral support with compassion, dignity, and respect.

Islamic Funeral & Janazah Support

Families may contact Stroudsburg Islamic Center to ask about available assistance with:

• Salat al-Janazah: Information about arranging the Islamic funeral prayer, subject to availability and coordination.
• Islamic Funeral Guidance: General information about the funeral process according to Islamic teachings.
• Ghusl and Kafan: Guidance about the Islamic washing and shrouding of the deceased, and information about available local assistance.
• Burial Arrangements: Information about coordinating with a Muslim cemetery or funeral home, where appropriate.
• Imam and Community Support: Requests for religious guidance, duas, and community support during a time of loss.
• Family Guidance: Help understanding the next steps and whom to contact for assistance.

What to Do When a Muslim Loved One Passes Away

During this difficult time, families may wish to:

1. Contact the appropriate medical or emergency authorities when required.
2. Contact a Muslim funeral home or funeral service provider for immediate arrangements.
3. Contact Stroudsburg Islamic Center to ask about Janazah prayer arrangements and available religious support.
4. Ask about the requirements for Islamic washing, shrouding, and burial.
5. Coordinate the arrangements with the family, funeral provider, and relevant cemetery.
